The guidance below is intended for use by Barnet Council Troubled Families practitioners, and as information for partners and other practitioners.
A multi-agency referral meeting must take place within two weeks of allocation to gather further information about the family. This involves the family, the key worker and other agencies involved. It is chaired by the senior key worker or manager. Details of professionals involved are held on the family file and recorded in all formal meeting minutes.
The background to the case and reasons for referral are discussed, and the meeting seeks agreement from the family to undertake an assessment. The TFD practitioner will take minutes and record all actions agreed and decisions made.
Family Focus may occasionally find that they do not have relevant other agencies to attend this meeting; and should discuss their approach with their line manager. A flexible approach is one that can meet the specific needs of the individual families.
