'331' Young People's Centre
What is ‘331’?
‘331’ is an information, advice, support and counselling service for young people aged between 12 and 21 years of age. We provide support with a wide range of issues such as:
- Benefits
- Bullying and harassment
- College applications and gap year planning
- Computer and internet access
- Drug and alcohol use, including giving up smoking
- Education, training and careers
- Emotional health and psychological well-being, including help with anger
- General health
- Housing
- Personal safety
- Positive activities and developing talents and interests
- Relationship problems
- Sexual health and family planning (including pregnancy testing and free condom scheme)
- Voluntary work
‘331’ aims to help young people with whatever issues they bring to us. If we can’t help directly, we try to involve someone who can.
The ‘331’ team is made up of a manager and deputy manager, two project workers, three Connexions Personal Advisors and our team of counsellors and mentors, who work with us on a voluntary basis. We have a dedicated IMPACT (young people’s drug and alcohol) worker who is with us for two sessions each week.
Do I need a teacher or social worker to arrange for me to use the ‘331’ service?
Young people do not have to be ‘referred’, in other words, sent along to ‘331’ by professional workers or even parents/carers. You can telephone or e-mail us yourself to arrange an appointment or ask for advice. If you prefer, you can just turn up at our weekly drop-in session (see below for details).
