Band reductions (incl. disability)
If your property is occupied by a disabled person, and your property meets one of the following criteria, it may be possible to get a reduction on your Council Tax bill. The reduction is equivalent to paying Council Tax for the band below the band your property is in. Since April 2000, this can also apply to properties that fall into band A.
To qualify there must be:
- a room other than a bathroom, kitchen or lavatory which is predominantly used by and required for meeting the needs of the disabled person; or
- a second bathroom or kitchen for meeting the needs of the disabled person; or
- extra space inside the property to allow for wheelchair circulation by the disabled person.
