Meet the Mayor

Councillor Lisa Rutter was elected on 17th May 2011 to be the 47th Mayor of Barnet at Hendon Town Hall following the Annual Meeting of the Council. During her Mayoral year the Mayor’s Consort will be her husband Mr Mark Rutter.
Lisa has also appointed Councillor Barry Evangeli as her Deputy Mayor with his mother Dora as Deputy Mayoress.
During her Mayoral year, Councillor Lisa Rutter will support three charities;
Barnet Young Carers And Siblings 'BYCAS' provides services to support young carers aged 5-17 years living in the London Borough of Barnet
The Outward Bound Trust – To unlock the potential in young people through discovery and adventure in the wild.
The Alzheimer's Society – Leading the fight against dementia

Lisa is Greek Cypriot born in London. She has been married to Mark her husband for 25 years and has a grown up son Nick.
She has a background in litigation and has worked at the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau and has also worked at Coutts Bank in Special Matters and Fraud. She has worked 10 years in the banking industry.
Lisa was elected Councillor for Brunswick Park Ward in May 2006. She has been Chairman of the Chipping Barnet residents’ forum. She has also been a member of the Chipping Barnet Area Environment sub-committee, Health Overview and Scrutiny committee and Licensing committee. She has also served as a substitute member of various other committees and has been a member of two outside bodies, the London Road Safety Council and Crime and Prevention Council.
Lisa serves as a Governor at three schools in the Borough, Brunswick Park School, Ashmole School and Hampden Way Nursery. Her husband Mark is also a Local Authority Governor at Church Hill School.
Her interest is keeping fit as she believes that a healthy body promotes a healthy mind.
