Children's practitioners
Supporting integrated multi-agency working
A number of new tools and processes have been developed to help practitoners from across the children’s workforce to share information and work together more effectively.
This will ensure that children and families receive the right support at an early stage, before their needs increase, and that services are delivered in a more co-ordinated way.
These tools and processes include: the Common Assessment Framework, the lead professional role, service directories such as Directme, information sharing and a national children’s index, called ‘Contact Point'.
Background
'Every Child Matters - Change for Children' is the name given to the Government's new approach in how services are delivered to children and young people from birth to age 19.
This approach is intended to improve the wellbeing of children and young people and improve outcomes when extra support is needed.
The Government's aim is for every child, whatever their background or their circumstances, to have the support they need to:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being.
