The Council Tax bill can be reduced if one person lives in a property.
Discounts are also given to residents with special circumstances:
- Severely mentally impaired
- Long term residents of NHS or military hospitals
- Patients of a residential home, nursing home or mental nursing home or hostel
- School and college leavers
- Full time students
- Non-British spouses of students
- Student nurses
- Visiting forces
- Eighteen year olds for whom Child Benefit is payable
- Member of a religious community
- Convicted or remand prisoners
- People staying in short-stay hostels or night shelters
- Carers and care workers
- Apprentices
- YTS trainees
- Member of International Defence Headquarters
