Dollis Valley Green Walk
Dollis Valley Greenwalk was voted for by the public to receive one of the ten grants of up to £400,000 from the Mayor of London's Help a London Park Scheme.
The Mayor of London's scheme, Help a London park (external link) was established to invest £6million in improving the quality and safety of London's parks.

New play areas:
Windsor Open Space
Work will begin to transform the Windsor Open Space play area on 13 February 2012. The play area will be closed for 4 weeks while the work is being carried out.
Design to follow shortly.
Riverside Walk
The exciting new play area at Riverside Walk is close to completion.

Vegetation improvement works
Decoy Pond, Brent Park
Work is now near completion at the Decoy Pond and includes:
- Vegetation thinning
- Re-profiling pf the banks to create new habitat and improve access
- New planting including aquatic species to improve biodiversity
- installation of a new pump to help improve water quality
Signage
New signage can now be seen along the whole route of the Walk from Moat Mount to Hampstead Heath, also indicating public transport and footpath links where appropriate.
Entrance improvement works
Entrance works have now started at various locations along the walk to improve safety and access.

Footpath works - Stage 2
Footpath works at Windsor Open Space are now complete. The existing path has been upgraded, the river bank has been strengthened and a natural scrape area will help reduce flood risk.

Project overview
Taking into account feedback from residents, stakeholder groups, key partners and council officers, the three objectives identified to make Dollis Valley Greenwalk cleaner, safer and greener are:
- Improving Access – including signage, footpath work and entrances
- Improving/establishing biodiversity and natural habitat – creating wild flower meadows, grassland management and river enhancement works
- Improving/providing facilities and infrastructure - including litter bins, play & fitness equipment
As well as the £400,000 secured through the Mayor of London's Help a London Park scheme for Dollis Valley Greenwalk, an additional £250,000 has been secured from TfL for cycle and footpath improvements and £30,000 from Walk London to improve signage.
Works started in March 2011 and the entire project due for completion by March 2012. Programme details and opportunities to get involved on particular aspects of the project, including designing play areas and participating in community action days, will be posted on this page.

About Dollis Valley Greenwalk
The Dollis Valley Greenwalk incorporating Brent Park, Hendon NW4, Windsor Open Space East Finchley, N3, Riverside Walk / Gardens, North Finchley, N12 and Brook Farm/Wyatts Farm, Whetstone, N20 provides access routes to schools, shops and public transport.
The walk provides an important green corridor for wildlife and recreational use through the heart of Barnet and serves residents from a number of wards within the borough. Various sections are regularly used by instructor-led health walkers, seasonal football, dog walkers and runners. The play areas in Riverside walk and Windsor Open Space are also well used by local residents.
