Equipment and adaptations to the home
Equipment is available to Barnet residents who either need help for them to stay safely and independently at home or because of their ill health. Some people will need help with activities which they cannot undertake without equipment, for example
- getting into the bath
- using the stairs
- walking around steadily
- recovery from an operation.
Equipment is only provided after an assessment by a professional, normally an occupational therapist or a physiotherapist. The equipment is on loan, free of charge and should be returned when no longer required. The equipment is now provided under contract, by the British Red Cross who deliver, collect, clean and maintain the equipment. For further information please contact the Occupational Therapy Duty Team on 020 8359 4539.
