12. When must I accept or refuse the offer?

Within 14 days of receiving the offer letter.

13. Are vacancies likely to arise at oversubscribed schools after the first round of offers?

A small number are likely to arise. If further offers are possible these will be sent out by the end of May.

14. What can I do if I am still not offered a preferred school?

The Admissions Team can identify schools with vacancies. You can also remain on the waiting list for a preferred school if you have been offered a lower ranked or a further preference school. You will also be told about the right of appeal.

15. Will my appeal be successful?

Appeal panels can allow appeals for reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes only where it is satisfied that either:

i) the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case, or

ii) that the child would have been offered a place if the school’s admission arrangements had been properly implemented. For children in Years 3 to 6, appeals panels will continue to balance the circumstances of the family against the practical and educational difficulties that result from extra children in classes that are already full.

16. Can I appeal again if I’m unsuccessful?

No, you cannot make a further appeal during the same academic year unless there are significant changes in your circumstances. If you believe that there have been significant changes in circumstance, you will need to give details of those changes to the Admissions Team for consideration.
