Local Plan: Minerals
Q1. What is meant by local plans for minerals?
Due to the nature and effect of mineral working, special provisions are necessary to control its environmental impact.
Mineral Local Plans carry policies which provide for the supply of minerals, and for ensuring the required degree of environmental protection associated with the development.
In an area covered by a Unitary Development Plan (UDP), there is no requirement to prepare a mineral local plan, and so any relevant policies should be contained within the UDP.
The London Borough of Barnet does not have any mineral working within its boundaries.
