Local Plan: Waste
Q1. What is the Waste Local Plan?
In areas where Unitary Development Plan (UDP) are prepared, waste policies should appear within the UDP.
Government guidance encourages:
i) the inclusion of policies that identify sites or contain criteria for waste management facilities;
ii) to consider all the options for managing any waste generated; and,
iii) ensure adequate facilities are in place to prevent the transportation of waste long distances for disposal.
Barnet’s Corporate Plan contains ambitious targets to extend recycling and increase the percentage of household waste recycled.
