Unitary Development Plan (UDP)

Q1.  What is the Unitary Development Plan (UDP)?

The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is a statutory document, the structure and basic content of which is set out by central Government, but is produced by the council.

The purpose of the plan is to provide a framework for the most efficient and effective use of land in the public interest.

Planning law requires the council to consider its UDP when it makes individual planning decisions.
