Why introduce compulsory recycling?
Disposing of waste through incineration or landfill is expensive and causes environmental damage. Suitable sites are scarce and costs are soaring. In contrast, waste sent for recycling generates income for the Council, and greatly reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill. It also helps to create a Clean, Green and Safe Barnet.
We have made recycling accessible to all. It's easy and convenient - collections take place weekly from your home, Black Boxes are provided free of charge and assisted collections are provided for those residents that need extra help.
