How are children matched to their adoptive parents?
We look for the adopter that can best meet the children’s needs. We look for adopters that reflect the child’s racial origin, cultural and religious background. Adopters who come from similar backgrounds are more able to give the child a sense of identity.
So for example, for a child from a Catholic background, we would look for a Catholic family; for a child from a Muslim background we would look for a Muslim family, for a child from an African Caribbean background we would look for an African Caribbean family.
For children with physical or learning disabilities or emotional difficulties we look for parents with particular strengths and experiences.
For older children with developed personalities we look for families that can encourage their individual interests and talents.
