Why do I get a penalty for parking on a yellow line, but a gas contractor digging the road up, or a police officer, or a civil enforcement officer, who breaks the same law doesn’t?
The following are specially exempt from some parking controls:
- Utility companies and their contractors
- Highway maintenance contractors
- Fire, police, and ambulance vehicles
- Vehicles used for cleaning and maintaining road signs, bus shelters, phone kiosks, etc.
- Vehicles used for certain council functions such as refuse disposal and parking enforcement.
