We usually receive a request from a school asking for a School Crossing Patrol. The Traffic Management and Safety Team will look for an ideal location and carry out pedestrian and traffic surveys. If the site is approved the recruitment process can begin.
Q4. What sort of person usually becomes a School Crossing Patrol Officer?
Community minded people, usually a parent, grandparent or relative of a child that attends the school.
Q5. What training does a School Crossing Patroller receive?
The School Crossing Patroller will receive practical on the job training from a Road Safety Officer at the site where they will be working. The Road Safety Officer will ensure that the School Crossing Patroller is capable and confident to carry out his/her duties before having to do so by themselves.
Q6. Who provides the uniform and sign?
This will be provided by the Traffic Management and Safety Team.
