FYi - families and young people's information service
We provide for families, children and young people aged 0 - 20 years in Barnet. This includes:
- lists and details of registered childcare in Barnet
- information on parental support and courses
- information about financial help·available to help pay for childcare
- guidance on careers in childcare - childcare qualifications and careers
- advice on starting and running a childcare business
- FYi - Frequently Asked Questions.
If you are looking for specific information and can not find this on our web pages, please email us at fyi@barnet.gov.uk and we will endeavour to find out the information you require on a range of childcare or family issues.
We are open:
- 9am - 5.15pm Monday to Thursday
- 9am - 5pm on Fridays.
You can contact us by telephone during this time, and an answerphone operates outside these times.
FYi Parent Focus Group
Have your say and help us to make decisions about services that affect you and your family!
We are running two small focus groups for all parents in Barnet to find out more about services and influence decisions that effect you and your family. The next focus group takes place on:

The group aims to:
- establish the awareness of FYi and the information, advice and guidance they provide
- ascertain where parents currently go for information, advice and guidance
- discuss preferences in receiving information
- determine what information Barnet parents need.
The groups will provide an opportunity to:
- influence what is on offer for children and their families in Barnet
- discuss issues of concern or interest
- make new friends and speak with other parents
- be creative, heard and valued
- gain valuable information.
Your feedback is essential in coordinating efforts so that our communications may reach all families who need our services.
