Healthy schools programme
The Barnet Healthy Schools Programme is a partnership between Barnet Local Authority and Barnet Primary Care Trust. It is part of the National Healthy Schools Programme, a long-term initiative which supports the links between health, behaviour and achievement.
Central to the National Healthy Schools Programme is the whole school approach recognising that being healthy is about the whole school community during the entire school day. Schools achieve National Healthy School status by demonstrating that they meet national criteria across the four core themes: PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, and Emotional Health and Well-being.
Barnet Healthy Schools also runs a similar programme for early years settings (the HAPPY Project) and a motor skills programme for children with coordination difficulties.
