A bargain to be had at borough’s first furniture reuse centre
A warehouse with a difference has opened its doors in Barnet, offering high quality used furniture at discount prices.
The Barnet Furniture Centre on Queens Parade, Friern Barnet, offers a huge variety of restored items such as sofas, tables, chairs, beds and wardrobes, as well as a wide range of bric-a-brac.
Hundreds of residents have already taken advantage of the bargains on offer, with the centre selling more than £10,000 of items in just ten weeks.
The centre also gives people the opportunity to donate good quality furniture they no longer want or need.
The warehouse, run by an independent charity, is now desperate for more volunteers to help prepare the growing number of items within the centre’s workshops. Volunteers will be able to develop new skills and it could be a step towards full-time employment.
The centre’s founders hope it will help divert more than 125 tonnes of furniture away from landfill each year, supporting Barnet Council’s waste prevention efforts.
