How to get your claim processed faster
In order to process your claim quickly:
Make sure you have completed the form correctly
- Have you answered all the questions?
- Have you signed the form?
Make sure you have sent us all the proof we asked for on the application form
- Have you sent proof of identity and National Insurance Number?
- Have you sent proof that you are living at the address?
- Have you sent proof of your rent charge? (Private tenants only)
- And for those not receiving Income Support or Income based Jobseekers Allowance, have you sent proof of your income and savings?
- Proof of income includes five weekly or two monthly payslips, benefit award letters, private pension letters etc.
- Proof of savings includes two months bank statements for each account held, any share certificates and proof of other savings.
Make sure you have sent us proof of 'non-dependants’ income
Make sure you have sent us proof of your childcare costs
If you do not send in these documents, we will not be able to pay you and have to write to you for them.
This will delay payment of your claim.
The council runs a number of Action Points where you can take your original documents to be photocopied.
