Business continuity forum

Businesses are working together in Barnet to plan for the worst if a major incident was to hit the borough.

The Barnet Business Continuity Forum is made up of:

The aim of the forum, which meets every three months, is to create effective networks and contact databases, and strong links with the council’s emergency planning experts, to ensure their core business can continue in case of an emergency – which could include extreme weather, power cuts, terrorism, or a range of other incidents that have the ability to stop businesses operating normally.

The inaugural meeting of the Business Continuity Forum was held in January 2007 following a successful business continuity conference in September 2006. Member groups have agreed to take turns at hosting the quarterly meetings.

Business owners or representatives of voluntary and community groups who would like to find out more about business continuity and become a member of the forum, or forum members who have enquiries, can contact Lorna Minney using the contact details opposite.

Update from the last meeting:

The second meeting of the Barnet Business Continuity Forum took place on 30 April 2007.

Three guest speakers attended the meeting, providing forum members with an insight into the work of the council’s CCTV control centre, the WRVS and business continuity promotional activities undertaken in an adjoining borough.

Discussions took place around the benefit of a business continuity training session being arranged to take place at a future forum meeting and an ‘alert’ system for warning and informing.
