Power cuts
What do I do if the power goes out?
One of the more likely emergency situations residents could face is a power cut. Take the following easy steps to ensure that you get through a power cut with as little inconvenience as possible:
- Keep batteries in one of your radios in case of power cuts.
- Ensure your family have at least one good torch, with charged batteries. Make sure it is easy to find in the dark. Do not use candles if there is any danger of a gas leak.
- Keep a list of key telephone numbers by your phone which you may need in an emergency, such as utility companies, friends and neighbours.
