Explosives sales licences
Traders who wish to keep and sell fireworks (explosives) at their premises are required to register their premises with us. Failure to do so may result in heavy fines and the forfeiture of stock. There are also controls on the method of storage and the maximum quantities that can be kept on site.
Basic registration
This allows traders to store fireworks all year round but they can only be sold at the specified periods shown below:
- Bonfire Night - 15 October to 10 November
- New Year's Eve - 26 December to 31 December
- Chinese New Year - on the first day of the Chinese New Year and the three days preceding it
- Diwali - on the day of Diwali and the three days preceding it.
All year round licences
Businesses can apply for a separate licence to sell fireworks all year round.
Fees
The current fees are:
- Renewal of registration - £36
- New registrations - £72
- All year round licence - £500
