Gambling licences

Premises used for gambling are currently licensed by the magistrates. The Gambling Act 2005 is bringing major changes to the licensing regime.  In 2007, the council will begin to issue gambling premises licences. There will be a transitional period for existing businesses to convert their licences.  Personal licences and operator licences will be issued by the Gambling Commission.

The council has published its Gambling Licensing Policy  Help on Downloading PDFs (PDF 425KB)

There is a list of consultation replies Help on Downloading PDFs (PDF 82KB) to the draft policy, with comments and an indication of changes that were made as a result of the consultation.
