Chipping Barnet Town Centre
Chipping Barnet, also known as High Barnet, is a historical town centre with conservation areas and fine listed buildings. The Spires Shopping Centre is located in the town centre, offering a number of high street names and a good sized supermarket. A number of independent shops as well as an array of restaurants, cafés and bars are located on the high street. Barnet market is held every Wednesday and Saturday.
Chipping Barnet is famous for the Barnet Horse Fair which is held annually at Greengates Stables and Livery, Reeds Farm, Barnet EN5 2AQ.
Chipping Barnet library is located in the town centre just behind The Spires Shopping Centre.
The nearest train station to Chipping Barnet town centre is High Barnet underground station located on Barnet Hill. It is served by the northern line and is a short walk away from the centre. Bus routes 614 and 234 stop on Stapylton Road
A planning strategy is currently being produced for Chipping Barnet town centre. This will be prepared with key stakeholders and will set out the aspirations for the town centre. It will guide pre-application discussions with developers, negotiations over Section 106 agreements and allow planning applications to be shaped with an eye towards all factors affecting the town centre over the next 5 to 15 years.
The nearest tube station is High Barnet, on the Northern Line, which is approximately a 10 minute walk away.
