North Finchley Town Centre
North Finchley town centre has several high street retailers as well as independent stores and supermarkets. A regular market, Finchley General Market in Lodge Lane, operates on a Friday with over 100 stalls selling various goods.
The Artsdepot is one of North London’s best arts centres and is situated in the town centre. It includes a gallery, two theatres, community facilities, cafe and drama and dance studios. The town centre is easily accessed by public transport. The centre is well served by buses and is only a short walk away from Woodside Park on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line.
There are around 400 pay and display parking spaces in the borough run car parks on Castle Street, Lodge Lane, Woodhouse Road and Stanhope Road. All the borough’s car parks are pay and display from Monday to Saturday 8am–6.30pm, and are unrestricted out of these hours; the maximum stay varies from four hours to all day.
A planning strategy is being produced for North Finchley town centre. This is being prepared with key stakeholders and sets out the aspirations for the town centre. It will guide pre-application discussions with developers, negotiations over Section 106 agreements and allow planning applications to be shaped with an eye towards all factors affecting the town centre over the next 5 to 15 years.
