Meet the Mayor

Mayor FinnCouncillor Anthony Finn BSc (Econ) FCA was elected on 17 May 2010 to be the 46th Mayor of Barnet at Hendon Town Hall following the Annual Meeting of the Council. During his Mayoral year the Mayoress will be his wife, Mrs Anita Finn.

Councillor Lisa Rutter was appointed Deputy Mayor with her husband, Mark, as Deputy Mayor’s Escort.

During his Mayoral year, Councillor Finn will support two charities, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, a local vibrant charity providing practical support to life–limited children and their families, and Camp Simcha, a Hendon based charity aimed at improving the quality of life for children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Mayoress FinnCouncillor Finn has been a Hendon resident for 62 years and a Hendon Ward Councillor since 1990. He was the Deputy Leader of the Council from 2002-2005 whilst holding the Cabinet portfolio for Resources and from 2005-2009 he was the Cabinet Member for Regeneration. Recently he has served as the Chairman of Budget and Performance Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

He has also served as a Governor of Hasmonean High School and is currently Governor of Pardes House Primary School. Councillor Finn was educated at Hasmonean Grammar School, Gateshead Talmudical College and the London School of Economics where he gained a degree – BSc (Econ). He is a Chartered Accountant and a senior partner in a West Hampstead firm.

Councillor Finn has been married for nearly 40 years to Anita and they have one son, Zalmi.
