Meet the Deputy Mayor
This year’s Deputy Mayor is Councillor Mukesh Depala, who was elected to the council as member for Coppetts ward in 2006. Councillor Depala was born in South Yemen in 1961 and has lived in Barnet for over 30 years.
He works as an Accounts and Administration Manager for a firm of solicitors based in Stratford who specialise in crime and immigration. He is married to Sadhana (his Deputy Mayoress for the year) who works for Nat West Bank. The couple have two children – a 16 year old son who has special needs and a 12-year-old daughter.
In his spare time Councillor Depala enjoys spending time with his family, helping his community and serving as a Foundation governor at Hollickwood School. He also runs and manages a cricket club for youngsters in Barnet that plays in the Middlesex Premier Cricket League.
