Newstead Children’s Centre is a stand alone centre run by Barnet Council, which provides a range of services to children under five-years-old and their families.

When you first visit the Children’s Centre, you will be asked to complete a registration form.
(PDF: 87KB). Please fill in the form and bring it to the centre when you first visit.
Childcare
Newstead Children’s Centre provides 26 childcare places for children aged two to five-years-old, in a safe and caring environment where they can learn and grow. We are committed to building a sound foundation where children feel valued and their parents involved in their learning.
Children can attend our nursery "all year round" or "term-time only." If you choose "term-time only," your child will only attend during school term dates.
Parent support
Parents are encouraged to be active members of our centre. We work in partnership with parents to develop the best programme of learning and support to benefit their child’s overall development.
We also provide a wide range of parenting support courses which are designed to help parents gain confidence and enjoy their parenting role. Courses are run on a regular basis, they include:
- healthy lifestyle
- communicating with your child
- fun 4 baby
- strengthening families and strengthening communities.
Parents attending our courses can also have access to our crèche.
Health services
We now exchange Healthy Start Vouchers for vitamins.Please view our activities timetable above for days of collection
- Children’s drops: £1.77 per bottle
- Mother’s tablets: 90p per bottle

We work in partnership with a range of health professionals and together we provide activities such as:
- midwifery
- baby massage
- baby weighing
- child health clinic
- infant feeding support
- new parents’ support group
- speech and language support
- homevisiting.

When we are open
We are open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, for 48 weeks in the year.
We are open on occasional Saturdays for fathers and male carers group or family events.
Closure dates:
- bank holidays
- five days for staff training
- up to two weeks of fixed closure, usually one week in the summer and one week at the end of the year.
