Ordering a memorial
For a grave
Hendon Cemetery offers a wooden cross with brass plaque to mark a grave. If you would like to have a grave stone made you need to contact a local stonemason. Hendon Cemetery make a charge for erecting monuments, gravestones and tablets. We also offer a maintenance service for private graves..
For a cremation
We offer several different kinds of memorial for cremated remains:
Memorial rose bushes
The Garden of Remembrance contains standard and bush roses where nearby the ashes may be dispersed and a small memorial tablet placed in commemoration.
Lily Pond
The Memorial Gardens comprise lawns and roses together with a lily pond and fountains and those desiring a definite resting place for the ashes of themselves and their families may acquire a small tablet around the lily pond for the purpose.
Columbarium niches
Another choice is to deposit the ashes in a suitable urn, which is then placed in one of the niches of the Columbarium.
The Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance is set in its own tranquil room next to the North Chapel, The Book satisfies the need for an inexpensive, yet lasting, form of memorial.
The book is in two volumes, one for each half-year, bound in red Niger goat skin and richly tooled in gold, with leaves of the finest hand-made paper. The lettering is skilfully executed by hand by modern craftsmen, making a permanent artistic record. A page is provided for each day of the year and the book, remains open each day at the appropriate page.
For information on any of the above please contact Hendon Crematorium where our staff will be pleased to help.
