Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)
Barnet’s Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) brings together organisations from the
public, private, community and voluntary sector.
Its key objective is to improve the quality of life in the area by addressing important issues affecting those who live and work here, such as health, housing, community safety, transport and education.
LSP Executive
The LSP Executive is comprised of the suppliers of public services in Barnet and is the decision making body of the LSP. The LSP Executive is chaired by Councillor Mike Freer, Leader of Barnet Council. Its members are:
- Councillor Mike Freer, Leader, London Borough of Barnet
- Chief Superintendent Stephen Kavanagh, Borough Commander, Metropolitan Police
- Marilyn Hawkins, Principal, Barnet College
- Chas Hollwey, Chief Executive, Barnet Primary Care Trust
- Steve Knight, Director of Corporate Services, Middlesex University
- Ruth Mulandi, Chief Executive, Barnet Voluntary Service Council
Leo Boland, Chief Executive of Barnet Council is secretary of the LSP Executive.
The LSP Executive meetings are observed by Job Centre Plus, Learning and Skills Council, Transport for London and Government Office for London.
What does the LSP do?
- Develops a shared long-term vision for the future of Barnet
- Translates the vision into a Community Strategy that identifies a common agenda, clear priorities, key ambitions, and achievable outcomes and has wide community support
- Develops and delivers Barnet's Local Area Agreement
- Performance manages the Sustainable Community Strategy
- Provides community leadership and direction to the family of strategic partnerships and oversees joint strategic initiatives to tackle economic, social and environmental objectives
- Promotes and facilitates multi-agency and cross-sector working by helping to overcome the barriers between organisations and ensuring that local partnerships remain fit for purpose.
