Approved premises
An approved venue is a place or building granted a licence to hold marriages by civil ceremony.
Naming Ceremonies and Renewal of Vows ceremonies can also be held at approved premises.
After you have confirmed the date, time and fees with the venue, you must then contact the Register Office for the district where you are marrying to arrange for a Superintendent Registrar and Registrar to attend the marriage.
Fees for their attendance are at an approved venue are set by the local authority and vary from district to district. Your chosen venue will tell you which office to contact.
You will also need to contact the Superintendent Registrar for the districts in which you both live, to give formal notice of marriage.
