Student loan

We work in partnership with schools, colleges and universities, Aim Higher and the Student Loans Company (SLC).

We use central government legislation to decide who is entitled to student finance and assess the value of support. We use a centralised computer system to assess financial support. This is part of the Government’s modernisation and e-government programme.

If you wish to start a course of higher education and you are normally resident in the borough need to complete a PN1 application form. All application packs contain detailed booklets about the financial support package and the terms and conditions of the maintenance loan. Alternatively you will be able to apply for financial support online at www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk for the 2008/2009 academic year if you are a new or existing student.

Original documents can be taken to any Barnet reception points where photocopies will be taken and verified. To avoid a queue, please bring own photocopies if possible. Most of our reception points are open between 9am - 4.30pm.
