What happens next?
Comments received about the Submission SCI will be forwarded to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate, which will set a date for an Examination in Public, to assess whether the document meets its tests of ‘soundness’.
Background to the Preparation of the SCI
The process of preparing the SCI began in October 2005 when a wide range of organisations were sent a letter and questionnaire on how they wished to be consulted and involved in planning issues. More than 1,200 questionnaires were sent out and nearly 200 were returned. These responses were analysed and the feedback was used as a basis for preparing the Draft SCI which was consulted upon in February and March 2006. Consultation generated 127 representations from 27 separate individuals or organisations. This comprised 107 objections and 20 supporting comments. All representations are set out at Response to Draft SCI Representations
