At this stage in the UDP review process, any person or organisation may object or support the proposed UDP modifications January 2006 . (PDF 97KB)
Objections cannot relate to the contents of the original Deposit Draft or Revised Deposit Draft UDP or to previous modifications that have been to consultation. Only comments on the Proposed Modifications January 2006 are valid at this stage. Your views must be made using the comments form (PDF 43KB) and submitted to the address given on the form, either by post or fax.
Copies of the documents will also be available for inspection in the Barnet’s libraries, Barnet House and the Town Hall, Hendon.
Background
On 11 October 2005 Barnet Council's Cabinet agreed to non-material modifications to the draft UDP and on 8 November 2005 it was agreed to adopt the UDP pending any direction from the Secretary of State.
A notice of intention to adopt was published on 17 November 2005 and the intention was to adopt the UDP after 15 December 2005.
On 15 December 2005 The Secretary of State ‘directed’ Barnet Council (PDF 231KB) to modify the UDP prior to its adoption.
This means that in order to conform with the Secretary of State’s Direction the Council cannot yet adopt the UDP, and must modify its policies on:
- ‘affordable housing’ (Policy H5) and
- ‘car parking standards for employment uses’ (Policy M14)
On 31 January 2006 the Council resolved to adopt the plan with Proposed Modifications January 2006 to meet the Secretary of State’s direction.
Public Consultation of the Modifications
Under the Town and Country Planning (Development Plan) (England) Regulations 1999, the Council is required to make the modifications publicly available for a period of formal consultation lasting six-weeks. This consultation is scheduled between: 2 February 2006 and 16 March 2006.
