Responsibilities
- Day to day processing of planning and building control applications to manage land use and regulate development in the Borough including Enforcement, Appeals and TPOs.
- Deliver a Strategic Planning Policy which includes spatial development strategies (LDF), sub regional frameworks and community involvement.
- Deliver Major Projects including section 106 obligations and regeneration Area Action Plans including town centres.
- Provide a 24-hour service for dangerous structures.
- Provide Environmental Health and Trading Standards services including licensing functions, (alcohol, public entertainment, special treatments, animal health and welfare).
- Improving and regulating standards of repair, amenity and safety in the private rented housing sector, dealing with unfit housing and inspection of bed and breakfast establishments housing homeless people.
- Deliver council’s strategy to improve energy efficiency in private sector homes, administer grants to provide adaptations for people with disabilities and provision of council’s care and repair service.
- Manage Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium, Public Mortuary and Watling Market.
- Provide an out of hours noise service to residents.
