The European Parliament Election: 4 June 2009

The European Parliament election took place in the United Kingdom on Thursday 4 June 2009. With nearly 500 million citizens represented across 27 member states, this was the largest transnational election in history. 72  of the elected MEP's will now represent the 12 regions that constitute the United Kingdom. Eight of these will represent the London region.

Local elections will take place in London on Thursday 6 May 2010. The next UK Parliamentary election must be held by June 2010.

Are you eligible to vote?

  • In order to vote, you must be 18 or over on election day.
  • If you live in Barnet, your name must appear on the electoral register. If you are not registered, you cannot vote.
