Evidence base for town centres
Town Centres Floorspace Needs Assessment April 2009
The London Borough of Barnet commissioned GVA Grimley to undertake a town centres floorspace needs assessment study in 2008. This was to form the evidence base for the emerging Local Development Framework (LDF), and in particular town centre planning policy, and to enable the council to make informed choices about the nature and extent of new floorspace growth to be accommodated within the borough up to 2026.
The study provides an assessment of the existing and likely future retail and leisure patterns within the borough for all its 30 town centres. An Executive Summary of the Town Centres Floorspace Needs Assessment
(PDF 230KB) highlights all findings.
The complete document and appendices (which total around 400 pages), can be viewed at the Council's planning reception on the 2nd floor at Barnet House.
