Local Development Scheme (LDS)
The council's updated Local Development Scheme (LDS) was approved by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on 12 June 2007.
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 changed the development plan system. The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is to be replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF).
- Part two of the act required the submission of a Local Development Scheme
(PDF: 902KB) by each local authority, setting out the three year project plan for preparing each Local Development Framework document the council will produce for the borough - The LDS contains up-to-date details of how and when the council will implement the LDF planning framework in Barnet.
There have been some changes to the council’s timetable and approach to LDF preparation since the LDS was originally produced in 2005
(PDF: 489KB).
The council submitted an amended version of its LDS to the Government Office for London (GOL) for approval. The Government was satisfied with the amendments that were made to the council's original LDS and approved the amended version on 12 June 2007. The council's updated LDS came into effect from this date.
