Extra-curricular activities
What can you or your children do outside of school hours?
There are a range of activities and services, often run beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of pupils, their families and the wider community, including:
- childcare to support working parents
- study support
- breakfast and after school clubs
- sport, art, drama and music clubs
- parenting support including family and adult learning
- specialist support services including speech and language therapy
- community access to computers.
These services are known as 'Extended Services' (external link). The activities and services available will vary from school to school. Contact any school in Barnet to find out more.

It does not matter whether your child is enrolled at the school.
Youth support such as young people drop-in centres, the Rithmik Music Studio or the Finchley Youth Theatre are also available.
Courses and activities for young people
There are many exciting holiday events, courses and activities happening during the school holidays for young people - all for free. Barnet Council is pleased to offer you a chance to enrol on some fantastic courses and be a part of Positive Activities in Barnet.
If you are aged 8 to 19 years old (up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties or disabilities) you can choose from a wealth of activities including:
- arts
- film
- media
- music
- performing arts
- sports and,
- study topics.
So whether you want to play in a band or learn Mandarin, there's plenty on offer. You can also gain valuable accreditation for the new skills you learn.
