Instrumental tuition
The Barnet Music Service provides instrumental tuition and Music Centres across the borough.
We provide the following:
- activities for children age three and upwards at Music Centres
- choirs at Music Centres during the week
- run centralised AS and A2 music and music technology courses at Woodhouse College
- suitably qualified and CRB checked instrumental teachers and conductors to Barnet schools and Music Centres on all instruments (usually subject to a minimum of one hour of teaching in any one school)
- performance management of the instrumental teachers and conductors
- training programmes for the instrumental teachers and conductors
- instrument hire (orchestral instruments only) at a competitive price to children learning an instrument through Barnet Music Service – parents please contact 020 8359 6310 or 020 8359 6373 for further details. Instrument hire is subject to availability
- whole class vocal and instrumental tuition programmes in Barnet schools
- a remission of fees and free use of an instrument (orchestral instruments only) to children in receipt of free school meals (proof required).

Services we don’t provide:
- hire instruments to children having lessons outside of Barnet Music Service
- keep a register of private tutor numbers to give out to the public.
Music Centres
Fees may be payable for the activities listed below (a number of activities may have places available for children in receipt of free school meals)
There are three Saturday Music Centres offering a range of ensembles, bands, orchestras, choirs and young music maker classes (ages three - seven) with flagship groups meeting on Thursday evening (Barnet Youth Orchestra and Barnet Youth Brass Band) and Friday evening (Barnet Youth Wind Orchestra).

The One Voice Choir
The One Voice Choir is for young people aged nine to 13 – entrance by audition during the rehearsal.

Barnet One Voice at the Royal Albert Hall
Barnet One Voice was a showcase concert held in April 2010 at the Royal Albert Hall for the work of the Music Service with children from 31 schools and three Music Centres.
