A good start
High quality nursery and pre-school education is a must if our youngsters are to get the start in life they need and deserve. It is at this early stage that they develop the skills and confidence to enable them to get the most out of all the education which will follow.
The council is planning to boost high quality services for the under fives with more nursery places, priority places for three year olds from less well-off areas, closer links with primary schools, new childminder networks and more teaching of reading and counting skills for youngsters in reception classes.
