Colindale Primary School
Planning permission
was
granted on February 18 to redevelop
Colindale primary school,
enlarging it to three forms of entry and incorporating the Acorn Assessment Centre for nursery age pupils.
Work on site began on 6 April and the new school will open in September 2011.
The new school has been designed to be very environmentally sustainable, using natural ventilation, external glazing and light wells to reduce energy consumption. It is intended that 20% of the annual energy needs of the new school will be produced on site through the use of sustainable energy sources including ground source heating and photovoltaic cells.
