Learner Support Funds
To be eligible for financial assistance from the School Learner Support Fund you must:
- Be aged over 16 and in regular full time attendance in sixth form at a school
- Be currently living in the Borough of Barnet
- Not be entitled to an Education Maintenance Allowance.
If you fulfil all these requirements you are eligible to make an application.
Please remember that every application is judged on the basis of “relative financial need” and that not all applications will be successful.
Successful applicants will normally be in need of financial assistance as defined by one of the following:-
- The student or his or her parent(s) receive(s) means tested benefit including working tax credit or are seeking asylum. Proof of current benefit payments or asylum status will be required.
- The student lives with a parent who is also studying and is entitled to a dependant’s allowance as part of a student grant.
- Other applications from families on low income will be considered on their individual merit.

If you have received financial help and leave before finishing your course you may be required to repay all or part of the grant. If your progress or attendance proves to be unsatisfactory, money may be withheld.
