Unison strike action - 16 - 17 July 2008 - schools affected in Barnet
This industrial action arises from a national dispute called by UNISON whose members have voted to reject the employers’ 2008/2009 pay offer of 2.45% with £100 extra for the lowest three pay grades.
The local authority and individual schools have assessed the impact of the strike in the context of aiming to keep open as many schools as possible. In this situation the prime concern for schools has been the safety of the children. Where it has been assessed that it will not be feasible to keep the school fully open, parents were notified as early as possible so that alternative arrangements could be made.
