Disabled Children's Team
The Disabled Children’s Team offer a service to children or young people from 0 – 16 years of age, who have a disability or chronic condition which prevents them from developing or performing every day tasks in the same way as children of similar ages and backgrounds. After the age of 16 years they are transferred to Transition Team where they are prepared for adulthood skills, utill the age of 19 years.
We are available from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Services offered:
- advice and support to the family
- carry out initial/core assessment and offer services
- on-going monitoring and updating review of care packages and support plans etc
- initiate care proceedings where appropriate
- undertake child protection work
- work closely with our partner agencies, example school, health and voluntary sector
- we are the custodians for the Disabled Children's Register.
We also undertake surgeries at Barnet’s specialist school. These visits are undertaken every second Wednesday of the month from 9.30am to 12noon for advice/information. These schools include:
- Northway School
- Oakleigh School
- Oak Lodge School
- Mapledown School
