Visual impairment
Visually impaired children have the right to reach their full potential in life – we are here to help.
We provide:
- support for children and young people with a visual impairment from 0 to 19 years
- support and advice to parents and carers through groups and newsletters
- home visits to pre-school children
- help with school placements including nursery and pre-school
- direct support to children in the classroom in mainstream and special schools
- advice and training to teachers and other professionals
- support in moving to Sixth form, Further and Higher Education
- assessments of visual and curriculum access needs
- training in activities of daily living: such as washing, dressing, feeding
- training in mobility: such as road safety, getting around safely and independently
- specialist resources and technology
- advice on building adaptations
- written reports
- information pack.
Visual impairment must not be a barrier to personal fulfilment and educational success. Every child is an individual and we will work closely with you to ensure needs are identified and met.
