Description
Large open park with ornamental flowerbeds, nature reserve and a pavillion with changing rooms, play group and a café. Mature individual trees and areas for walking are a feature of this site. Entrances can also be found on Wise Lane, Watford Way and Flower Lane.
History
The park was part of Daws Farm, thought to refer to Thomas Daws who lived in the area in the 14th century. It was bought by Hendon Urban District Council in 1923 and opened to the public the following year. The London Borough of Barnet was formed in 1965 and has continued to manage the site as an open space and sports ground for all to enjoy.
Management
The vision for Mill Hill Park is to provide attractive greenspace with modern facilities and active community participation. This site has a five year management plan, reviewed annually.
Continued engagement with local people will be key to the future of the park with detailed consultation on developments and practical involvement in the maintenance of the site. For further information on joining the Friends of Mill Hill Park call the Greenspaces team on 020 8359 7820 or email parks@barnet.gov.uk
