Description
Linear park connecting Wood Street with Mays Lane, situated behind houses. The layout contains formal gardens with an ornamental pond, rockery and numerous specimen trees, plus sports facilities for bowls and tennis. Its location, near to the town centre and college, make this a very popular park. Entrances can also be found on Orchard Road and Mays Lane.
History
Orginally a pasture with stables and a brewery, Barnet Urban District Council purchased the buildings in 1912 and the county court was held there till the start of WW1. The remainder of the estate was bought in 1923 and opened to the public the following year.
