Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board (PSIPB)
In 2003, we established the Barnet Physical and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board to improve health and social care services for people with a physical or sensory impairment.
Disabled People, carers and the voluntary sector are members of the Partnership Board together with professionals from health and Adult Social Services. In 2006, we looked again at the role of the Partnership Board and agreed that it should not just focus on health and social care services but on how we can improve the lives of people with a physical or sensory impairment. The Board agreed that it will achieve this by:
- Working within and promoting the ‘Social Model of Disability’
- Monitoring, developing and promoting opportunities and choices that improve the quality of life of disabled people (aged 18+)
- Mainstreaming disability across public services so that disabled people can play a full role in their community using the Disability Equality Duty to make change happen.
‘Our Life, Our Services, Our Say’ - July 2007
(PDF: 870KB) - It is a three year plan to improve the lives of disabled adults living in the London Borough of Barnet.
This plan sets out our six priorities for the next three years on what we want to achieve for disabled people in Barnet and what we have to do to make it happen. It is our interpretation of how we will be implementing the White Paper for Health and Social Services ‘Our Health, Our Care, Our Say’.
